ELECTRICAL AUTOMATION ENGINEER FOR BESS  (F/M/D) | IGNITIS RENEWABLES

Job Description

We are currently looking for a new colleague to join the Engineering Department of the Ignitis Renewables team, where you’ll be developing electrical interconnection and control methodology of newly built Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), to fully comply with grid requirements and regulatory standards. You will contribute to green and secure energy ecosystem creation by:

  • Supporting the development and testing of controls applications and grid services for energy storage solutions 
  • Integrating BESS control systems into TSO or DSO systems for remote and local operations 
  • Collaborating on electrical engineering elements affecting grid connections, including voltage control and modeling 
  • Preparing and evaluating technical requirements for equipment and systems 
  • Reviewing and approving technical specifications, design solutions, and equipment 
  • Ensuring cybersecurity for grid-connected and remote-controlled storage assets 
  • Supervising acceptance tests, including grid code compliance 
  • Reviewing and approving As-Built documentation 
  • Maintaining BESS controls infrastructure documentation. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Automation Engineering; a graduate degree is preferred 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical engineering and automation engineering, with a focus on grid connection configurations and control systems 
  • Proven experience with distribution and transmission network connections and relay protections 
  • Knowledge of electrical network automation, control systems engineering, and energy management systems (EMS) 
  • Familiarity with protection engineering, including relay protection devices and bi-directional inverters 
  • Basic understanding of communication protocols (e.g., SCADA), IT network devices, and data collection systems and of energy markets and grid services applications.

Would be an advantage:  

  • Experience in renewable energy sectors such as wind or solar engineering and energy storage systems 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions for energy storage and management.
